The Basu family traces its origins to Dasarath Basu, who arrived in Bengal from northern India in the 11th century. Generations later, Raghunandan Basu was reconfirmed as Zamindar of Ulpur under the Mughal Empire — a role that embodied both legacy and responsibility. Following the Partition of India in 1947, the family dispersed across the world. One of its descendants, Shuvendu Basu Roy Chowdhury of Ulpur, later married Countess Katalin Mikes of Zabola — a union of two historic lineages rooted in different lands. This spa is more than a place of rest — it is a quiet tribute to the Indian heritage of the family. A space where history, connection, and renewal come together in harmony.
